FAQ

Doctor Qualifications & Consultation process

Are all ACA doctors board-certified dermatologists?

Yes, every dermatologist working with Acne Clinics Australia is a board-certified dermatologist. Our team comprises experienced professionals who meet the highest standards of dermatological care and are all Fellows of the Australian College of Dermatology.

Will my profile be reviewed before the telehealth consultation?

Absolutely. Before your telehealth phone consultation, your assigned dermatologist will thoroughly review your patient profile. This ensures they are fully prepared to discuss your skin condition, treatment history, and any concerns you might have during the consultation.

Is a telehealth consultation part of the treatment process?

Yes, every patient is required to have a telehealth phone consultation with their dermatologist. This critical step allows us to provide personalised care and tailor treatment plans to each patient’s specific needs.

Do you offer video consultations?

At this point in time, we do not offer video consultations. All our telehealth consultations are conducted via phone calls to ensure privacy, convenience, and ease of access for all our patients across Australia.

Consultation Bookings

How much does a consult cost?

Our initial consults are priced at $209. This includes a comprehensive online evaluation of your profile by one of our board-certified dermatologists, followed by a telehealth phone consultation, where you’ll receive a personalised treatment plan.

Am I Eligible for a Medicare rebate?

At this point in time, no Medicare rebates are available for our online services, and all consultations are charged as private fees.

What is ACA's cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel, we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. This helps us manage our schedule and assist other patients effectively. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before your appointment may incur the consultation fee.

Can I reschedule my consult?

Yes, you can reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours in advance. For appointments within 48 hours, you will need to cancel and rebook.

What should I expect from an ACA consult?

After completing your initial screening and virtual profile, you’ll be guided to book your telehealth consultation. During your consultation, our dermatologists will review your acne history, assess your skin condition, and discuss your treatment options. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and express any concerns you might have. Based on this discussion, we can prescribe effective treatments tailored to your condition, all from the comfort of your home.

How quickly can I book a consult?

We aim to offer flexible scheduling, with appointments typically available within 24-48 hours after completing your online screening.

Are ACA consults telehealth or face-to-face?

All ACA consultations are conducted via telehealth, allowing you to access our dermatologists’ expertise from anywhere in Australia, conveniently on your smartphone or computer.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to use ACA’s services. Our online screening process determines your eligibility for our telehealth dermatology services, making access to acne treatment easier and faster. While no referral is needed, we encourage any patients with referrals to upload their documentation via the patient portal.

I had to cancel my consult. How do I rebook?

To rebook, simply visit our website and choose a new appointment time that suits your schedule.

Why do I need a follow-up consult?

Follow-up consultations allow our dermatologists to monitor your progress, adjust your treatment plan if necessary, follow up on any ordered tests, and renew prescriptions. These are crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of your treatment and adapting to any changes in your skin condition.

Is there a minimum age for a consult?

Consultations are available to individuals 16 years and older. For minors interested in acne treatment, we recommend consulting with a GP to explore the best options.
